I am still diligently working on the illustrations for my third Dojo Kun Character Book. These are for my series of children’s character-building picture books. The books all have karate kids fighting monsters that symbolize negative character traits. I’m sharing one of the working pictures today for my drawing explanation contest.
In the past, I have asked for input or comments on the illustrations. Here, it was for colors for the Dishonesty spider monster in my second book.* And here, I wanted to see if anyone could guess which critter will represent quitting in my third book. With those blog posts, the commenting was on social media. But today, I’m presenting a contest specifically here on my blog, with a real prize (not just bragging rights).
How to Enter the Contest:
Comment below giving your interpretation of the drawing in this blog post. The deadline is Tues. April 30th, 2020, so make sure to comment by that date. Also, make sure you use a valid email when you sign in to comment because I will be contacting the winner through that email to confirm and request a mailing address. (You do NOT need to put your email address in the actual comment though.) Only one entry per person: if you comment more than once, your first comment will be the one considered.
All comment-ers with drawing interpretations at least 85% correct will be put into a random drawing to pick one winner.
Prize: The lucky (and skilled) winner will get a copy of my coloring book: “Coloring Fun with the Can-Do Karate Kid.” Check your email in May to see if you won. I will email the winner to request a mailing address in the contiguous United States where the book can be shipped. Sorry, I am limited to sending it only to a valid address in the 48 connecting states of America. If you are outside this area, though, you could still win and have the coloring book sent to a friend in the contiguous U.S., you just need to give their valid mailing address. If you do not respond with a mailing address by May 15th (or within two weeks) you forfeit your prize and I will pick another winner.

To Review Basics of the Drawing Explanation Contest:
Comment below on this blog telling what you think is going on in the drawing in this blog post, by the deadline of April 30th, 2020. If you are selected as the winner, respond to my e-mail by May 15th, with a valid mailing address in the 48 attached United States. Then sit back and wait for your prize, my coloring book, to arrive!
What fun, thank you for joining my picture book adventure!
To help you a bit, in the picture are the two karate kid main characters in my picture book series. Michi is on the left, with the ponytail. And Makoto is on the right.
*Note: My second Dojo Kun Character Book, “The Two True Karate Kids,” is a great way to start conversations with kids on the importance of honesty. It’s available now! Amazon currently has the price inflated above the suggested retail. However, Barnes & Noble is offering it at MSRP and with free shipping. Here’s the link to the book at BarnesAndNoble.com
