The advice I have for a kid who wants a dog is for a kid who wants any kind of pet. Younger kids are not ready for a pet of their own. Even if parents allow an older kid to have a pet, the adults are responsible in the end. So it is the parents’ decision. However, you may be able to prove that you can be a good dog owner.
