Join local children’s picture book author-illustrator, Jenifer Tull-Gauger, for a book reading and workshop to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! Jenifer will be reading her book The Two True Karate Kids: A Dojo Kun Character Book on Battling Dishonesty and the Spanish version will be read congruently (Los dos verdaderos niños de karate: Un libro de carácter de Dojo Kun sobre cómo combatir a la deshonestidad). In addition to honesty, a theme of this book is friendship.
After the book reading, Jenifer will lead a casual mini Knowledge Café. This is a roundtable type discussion where everyone will be encouraged to share their experiences with Hispanic culture and friendship. In a Knowledge Café, we all learn from each other. The books are geared toward kids ages 5 to 10, but all ages are welcome to join this free special event. A parent or guardian must be present with children under 12. Spanish speakers are also encouraged to attend. Animamos a los hispanohablantes a unirse a nosotros. Ages 5 and up.

BIO:
Jenifer Tull-Gauger knows what it’s like to be an “old soul” and a painfully quiet kid struggling to fit in. Her journey to 7th degree black belt is a testament of how she found inner strength through traditional karate training. Now in leadership for an international martial arts alliance, she heads up a private dojo with her husband.
Jenifer combined her passions for illustrating and writing, with what she’s learned from 22-plus years of teaching karate, to create a children’s character-building picture book series. The Dojo Kun Character Books encourage children to find their own power in their lives.
